Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 October 2026 · Effective from: [launch date]
1. About these terms
9jaLive (the "Service") is a text and video chat service that connects adults in Nigeria with strangers. It is run by [COMPANY NAME], [RC number], [registered address], Nigeria ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Rules. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2. Who can use 9jaLive
- You must be 18 or older. We ask you to confirm this before you start, and by using the Service you promise that it is true.
- The Service is meant for people in Nigeria.
- We do not check your age or ID. If we believe someone is under 18, or someone says they are, we will block them.
3. What the Service is, and is not
- 9jaLive matches you with strangers. We do not know who they really are, we do not check what they say or show, and we do not choose who you are matched with beyond the options you pick.
- Do not trust anything a stranger tells you. Never send money, airtime, data, or personal or financial details.
- 9jaLive is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact the police or emergency services (for example 112 in Nigeria) or a trusted person.
- The Service may only be open at certain hours each day. The opening hours are shown on the home page.
4. No account needed
You do not need an account, name, email or phone number to use the Service. Your browser stores a random device code so we can enforce bans and keep the Service working safely, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
5. Rules of conduct
You agree to follow the Community Rules and the law. In particular, you must not:
- harass, threaten, stalk, bully, blackmail or abuse anyone, or spread hatred based on tribe, ethnicity, religion, gender or any other trait;
- show nudity or sexual acts, send sexual content, ask for it, or sexualise anyone;
- do anything that involves, encourages or exploits a child, in any way at all;
- commit or attempt fraud, scams ("419"), phishing, impersonation, or ask others for money or personal or financial details;
- share illegal content or encourage violence or any crime;
- spam, advertise, or promote loans, investments, crypto or any product or service;
- use bots, scripts or tools to automate the Service, or try to break or overload it;
- try to avoid a ban, including by clearing your browser data or using a different device, browser or network.
Many of these things are also offences under Nigerian law, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act. We may report serious misconduct, and anything involving a child, to the authorities.
6. Reports, blocking and enforcement
You can report or block anyone during a chat. We use automatic filters and human review. When several different people report the same user, that user is blocked automatically: first for 24 hours, then 7 days, then permanently, and the block applies to their device. A moderator may also ban a device, or block a network (IP address) for a short time. We may suspend or ban any user, at any time, if we reasonably believe they broke these Terms or the law. If you think a block is a mistake, contact us at [CONTACT EMAIL] and a person will review it.
7. Your messages and video
You are responsible for what you write and show. You keep ownership of your messages. You allow us to process them only as needed to run the Service, to apply our filters, and, if a chat is reported, to review the report (including one still picture from a reported video chat). We do not store chats that are not reported. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. Working with the authorities
We may keep and share relevant information (for example report records) with law enforcement or regulators where the law requires it, or where we believe it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.
9. Paid features
The Service is free. We plan to offer an optional paid plan ("Premium", for example choosing the state you talk to). It is not available yet. If we launch it, its price and terms will be shown before you pay, and joining the waitlist does not commit you to anything.
10. Availability
We try to keep 9jaLive running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that video will work on every phone or network. We may change, pause or stop the Service or any feature at any time.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not accept responsibility for what users say, show or do, for any loss caused by talking to or meeting someone through the Service, or for any loss caused by the Service being unavailable. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under Nigerian law that cannot be limited, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Limit on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss (such as lost profits, lost data or loss of reputation) arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service is limited to [amount, e.g. NGN 50,000]. [Lawyer to confirm this is enforceable and appropriate.]
13. If you cause us loss
If your breach of these Terms or the law causes us loss or a legal claim, you agree to compensate us for that loss to the extent the law allows. [Lawyer to confirm.]
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change matters, we will update the date above and tell users in the app. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using 9jaLive at any time. We may suspend or end your access as described in section 6. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 7, 11, 12, 13 and 16) will continue after your access ends.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If we have a disagreement, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally. If we cannot, the courts of [State, e.g. Lagos State] have jurisdiction.
